TUSCALOOSA, AL — It was a tough night for the Crimson Tide faithful, as No. 3 Alabama fell in its first true test of the season to No. 11 Texas 34-24 in Bryant-Denny Stadium.

The loss represents the earliest loss for a Crimson Tide team since Sept. 6, 2003, when the No. 1 Oklahoma Sooners and future Heisman Trophy winner Jason White came to Tuscaloosa and narrowly edged out Alabama and first-year head coach Mike Shula 20-13.

It was also the first double-digit home loss as a college head coach for the Crimson Tide's Nick Saban.

Alabama will return to action on Sept. 16 when the Tide travels to Tampa for a road matchup against South Florida. Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m.
