Watch: Updates Given On Willow Lane Murder Investigation, Arrests

The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit took questions Wednesday after two arrests have been made in the shooting death of a man last Friday.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Captain Marty Sellers gave an update Wednesday on the investigation into the June 11 shooting death of 19-year-old Versaun Leonard at a residence on Willow Lane.

Justin Demond Jenkins, 21, and Brenygha Edwards, 22 — have been arrested thus for in the investigation and Sellers said three other suspects are currently being sought.

Jenkins, a resident of Linden, stands charged with capital murder and was denied bond, while Edwards saw a capital murder charge downgraded to felony murder.

Edwards, a Demopolis resident, was given a bond of $80,000.

Sellers declined to identified the other three suspects as the investigation moves forward. While a motive has yet to be made public, investigators confirmed that Leonard knew the suspects involved in his murder.
