LIVINGSTON, AL — University of West Alabama linebacker Michael Anderson has been named an Associated Press Division II All-American after a standout 2022 season.

The honor marks the fifth postseason award for the Chatom native and UWA graduate student.

In addition to his awards following the season, Anderson was named Preseason All-Gulf South Conference, First Team All-GSC, GSC Defensive Player of the Year, D2CCA First Team All-Super Region Two, and AFCA First Team All-American.
During the 2022 season, Anderson appeared in 11 games for the Tigers and led the conference with 69 solo tackles. He also ranked sixth nationally in the category.

Anderson's best performance of the campaign saw him log a career-high of 13 tackles in the 34-31 victory over Valdosta State on Oct. 8.
He is the son of Annie Johnson and graduated from UWA with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management in 2021.
The Tigers finished the 2022 season 5-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play.
