Where To Find Temporary Dumpsters During UA's Busy Moving Season

The city is adding 10 temporary roll-off dumpsters across the city to help University of Alabama students and their families.

TUSCALOOSA, AL — The City of Tuscaloosa on Monday announced it is adding 10 temporary roll-off dumpsters across the city to help University of Alabama students and their families during the upcoming moving season.

The city says the additional dumpsters will be available from July 20 through Aug. 24 and are intended to make it easier for residents to dispose of unwanted household items during the busy moving period.

City officials said the dumpsters will be clearly marked with move-in/move-out signage.

The additional containers are for residential household waste only and should not be used by contractors or businesses.

Residents are also asked to place all debris inside the dumpsters rather than leaving trash on the ground around them.

The city also reminded residents that recyclable materials, including cardboard boxes, plastic bottles, aluminum cans, steel food cans and mixed paper, should be placed in blue curbside recycling bins or taken to one of the city's drop-off recycling trailers.

Electronics can be recycled at the Environmental Services Facility, 3440 Reese Phifer Ave., Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The temporary dumpsters will be located at:

  • 893 Parkview Drive
  • Cloverdale Drive at Meador Drive
  • 300 Thomas St. (behind apartment building)
  • Seventh Avenue and 12th Street
  • Eighth Avenue and 11th Street (in front of Capstone Condominiums)
  • 11th Avenue and 12th Street (in front of Heathrow Apartments)
  • 12th Street behind Tutwiler
  • 12th Street and 14th Avenue
  • Eighth Avenue and 13th Street
  • 13th Street behind Jack's
