White Sox Shortstop Anderson Returns To Tuscaloosa To Give Back
White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson and his wife donated 205 turkeys to Tuscaloosa families as part of the annual Homepla7e Turkey Drive Monday

TUSCALOOSA, AL. — Tuscaloosa native and Hillcrest High School alum Tim Anderson has made a name for himself as the shortstop for the Chicago White Sox, but returned to his hometown this week to give back as the holidays approach.
On Monday, Anderson and his wife Bria donated 205 turkeys to Tuscaloosa families as part of the annual Homepla7e Turkey Drive, which was held at Hillcrest High School in a drive-thru format.

The White Sox organization praised Anderson for his charity work, saying the 2020 Silver Slugger Award winner has been committed to supporting families in need. The efforts include Anderson founding Anderson’s League of Leaders (ALOL) to provide youth affected by gun violence with mentorship.

Through ALOL, the organization said Anderson has hosted Chicago youth for a cultural tour of the National Center for Civil and Human Rights in Atlanta, Georgia, held numerous events to give back to his communities, and presented a family with $1,000 in holiday presents last year during a meet-and-greet at Guaranteed Rate Field.

Anderson played college baseball at East Central Community College in Mississippi and was drafted by the White Sox with the 17th overall pick in the 2013 MLB Draft. After developing his talents in the minor leagues, Anderson was officially called up on June 10, 2016.
