Woman Killed In Sunday Morning Shooting On The Strip
A 23-year-old woman is dead and at least one person in custody after a shooting early Sunday morning on University Boulevard.
TUSCALOOSA, AL — The Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit says a 23-year-old woman is dead and at least one person in custody after a shooting early Sunday morning on University Boulevard in the area of The Strip.

Captain Jack Kennedy, commander of the multiagency unit, said in an update on Sunday that the victim was shot while inside a vehicle in the area of Grace Street and University Boulevard.

Kennedy explained that the victim’s vehicle was driven along University Boulevard until it encountered a UAPD police vehicle and stopped for help. The victim has not been identified by name at this time.
He went on to say investigators have located multiple witnesses and possible suspects are in custody. This comes after investigators initially announced one person had been taken into custody following the shooting, which occurred at approximately 1:45 a.m.

The fatal shooting marks the second person killed over the weekend in the City of Tuscaloosa and the fifth homicide of the year for Tuscaloosa County.
