Kornegay was transported to Whitfield Regional Hospital in Demopolis, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

ALEA said Kornegay was not wearing a personal flotation device at the time of the crash and was also not using the vessel’s emergency cut-off switch, commonly known as a kill switch.

The incident remains under investigation by ALEA’s Marine Patrol Division.
