World Games Organizers Present Ukrainian Athletes With $54,000 Donation
The funds will benefit the Ukrainian Community and Sports Movement through the Olympic Solidarity Fund.
BIRMINGHAM, AL — As the 2022 World Games comes to a close in the Magic City, organizers presented athletes from Ukraine with a check for $54,000 on Sunday to support sports in the eastern European nation.

Organizers previously announced plans to donate $1 from every ticket and item of World Games merchandise sold since April 1 to the Ukrainian Community and Sports Movement through the Olympic Solidarity Fund.

This follows Russia's invasion of the independent nation earlier this year.
“Solidarity all over the world for Ukraine is so huge. It’s amazing,” said Sergey Bubka, the President of Ukraine’s National Olympic Committee and an Olympic gold medalist. “Thank you very much for your support, for you believing in us ... We will never forget your support. Thank you very much from the bottom of my heart, and this is something very special.”
