Alexander — a Tuscaloosa native and graduate of Central High School and the University of Alabama — previously worked as the station's 10 p.m. weekday anchor prior to her promotion.

WVUA 23 says Alexander has been employed at the station since 1998, when it was known as WJRD. Over that time she has worked as an associate producer, producer, reporter and anchor.
