Coach Buddy Anderson Will Join National High School Hall Of Fame
Vestavia Hills High School's legendary football coach has been chosen for the National High School Hall of Fame.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - There is no way to talk about the rich history of high school football in Alabama and not talk about coach Buddy Anderson. The Vestavia Hills Rebels football coach is the state's winningest coach of all time, and has led the Rebels to two state championships. Now, his status will become even more legendary as he has been tapped for the National High School Hall of Fame.
The Class of 2018 will be inducted into the National Federation of State High School Associations National High School Hall of Fame July 2 at the Chicago Marriott Downtown Magnificent Mile. The 36th Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will be the closing event of the 99th annual NFHS Summer Meeting.
Anderson will begin his 41st year as the Rebels’ head football coach this fall, and has posted an all time high 329 wins and a 47-28 playoff record in 29 appearances. He joins a class of 12 that includes Tom Osborne, the 1955 Nebraska High School Athlete of the Year who later led the University of Nebraska to three national football championships in 25 years as the school’s coach; and Dick Fosbury, who revolutionized the high jump as a high school athlete in Oregon.
