Pigtails & Crewcuts Debuts First Alabama Salon In Vestavia

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A new hair salon has opened in Vestavia Hills, and this one is unique in that its specialty is children's hair. Pigtails & Crewcuts, a national chain of children's salons, opened its first salon in Alabama Jan. 2 in the Vestavia City Center.

The store is owned by local entrepreneur Jennifer Murray, a mother to two young boys. With a merchandising and business degree from Florida State University and a Master’s in Internet Marketing, she has been working as a data analyst since her sons were born.

Craving more of a challenge in her career and flexibility in her work schedule to be able to spend more time with her family, she decided to open a Pigtails & Crewcuts, seeing vast potential for a salon of its kind in her Birmingham community.

“Children’s haircuts can often be challenging, but certainly don’t have to be, so we are excited to bring the Pigtails & Crewcuts haircutting experience to central Alabama,” said Murray. “The salon’s mission and experience align perfectly with the family-friendliness and hospitality of the great Birmingham community, and I’m certain kids and parents alike will love what we have to offer.”

Pigtails & Crewcuts salons are brightly colored and conducive to entertaining children, with movies, a Nintendo Switch gaming system, books and toys to ensure a fun environment. In addition to traditional haircuts, Pigtails & Crewcuts caters to its family-friendly customers with first haircut packages, birthday parties and ear piercing.

The Vestavia Hills store will be open Monday through Friday 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Saturday 9 a.m. – 5 p.m., and Sunday 12 p.m. – 5 p.m.
