School Locator Tool Available Ahead Of Redistricting In Vestavia

Vestavia Hills Superintendent Todd Freeman introduced a tool for parents to locate their child's school ahead of next year's redistricting.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - With the new elementary school redistricting plan taking effect for the 2019-20 school year in Vestavia, Superintendent Dr. Todd Freeman announced the implementation of a new school locator tool online for parents to find the school for their children for the next school year.

Freeman issued a statement saying, "Since the Board approved the new elementary attendance zones, our staff has been working diligently to make sure our campuses are ready in August 2019. One component of this planning is the launch of a school locator tool. You can visit this link to locate the elementary school your children will attend next year."

Freeman said construction of a new classroom addition is underway at Gresham, which will be called Vestavia Hills Elementary Dolly Ridge. Renovations are taking place at the Berry campus, which will be the location for Pizitz Middle School. These projects are scheduled for completion in the summer of 2019.

Vestavia Hills Elementary Central will be shut down after the 2018-19 school year, with those students and staff members dispersed among the other schools. Students at East, West and Dolly Ridge will go to Pizitz Middle School, while students at Cahaba Heights and Liberty Park will go to Liberty Park Middle School. Ninth grade students will attend a ninth-grade center to be located at the current Pizitz facility. "We are also developing plans for the new K-5 elementary configuration and 9th grade campus that include staffing, resources, school start and end times, traffic, and much more," Freeman said. "In October, our Board will be given an update on our progress. We will make this information available to you following the Board meeting."
