Standards-Based Report Card Implemented For First Graders

Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, Vestavia Hills City Schools is using a new standards-based report card for all first graders.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — First grade students in the Vestavia Hills school system will be given a new form of report cards this school year. The school system announced it will use a new standards-based report card for the students.

A standards-based report card provides students and parents with information regarding the student's progress in meeting the state standards for their grade level. All of the academic standards will use a "4-3-2-1" grading scale to track progress, while learning habits and speaking and listening standards will use an "A-M-S-R" grading scale.
