TUSCALOOSA, AL - Several Vestavia Hills High School alumni were among nearly 500 participants in the University of Alabama's Undergraduate Research and Creative Activity Conference on March 27. The 12th annual conference is hosted by UA's Office for Undergraduate Research and the Office for Research and Economic Development.

The Vestavia alumni involved are:

  • Cameron Ewing; Presentation: "Visual First in AGILE development" in the Computer Science, MIS, Cybersecurity and Statistics category.
  • Rachel Glasgow; Presentation: "Examining Food Insecurity at The University of Alabama" in the Social Sciences category.
  • Addison Stewart; Presentation: "The difference in primary care emphasis and its result on the total health of the population in the United States and Cuba" in the Health Sciences category.

The conference spurs interest in research among undergraduate students and helps students polish their communication skills, said Dr. Kim Bissell, director of the Office for Undergraduate Research.

"We have got some pretty phenomenal students who are truly doing great things," Bissell said.
