Vestavia Girls Win State Soccer Title, Boys Runner Up
The Vestavia Hills High School girls soccer team won the state championship over the weekend, as the boys team fell just short.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - The Vestavia Hills High School soccer teams almost pulled off one of the more historic feats in Alabama high school soccer history, as the Rebels came close to capturing state titles in both the boys and girls AHSAA tournaments. The Rebels won the girls state championship Saturday, while the boys team fell just short, losing to Auburn in the finals.
The girls team defeated McGill-Toolen 2-1, in a rematch of last year's championship game in which the Rebels lost. Faith Hauberg, the game's Most Valuable Player, scored the first goal for the Rebels, with Taylor Korn adding the second score.
The boys team defeated Mountain Brook to reach the championship, and despite playing a tight game, lost 2-1, with the Rebels' Ford Hunt scoring for Vestavia.
