Vestavia Hills Elementary West Receives Award

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Vestavia Hills Elementary West was awarded a 2020 Promising Practice Award by Character.org for the implementation of its "Connect Five" program.

Connect Five is a ground roots effort via the school's counseling department in which five adults within the school building are connected with a Tier III behavior student in order to support social and emotional deficits.

The program allows students with social and emotional needs to feel connected to more than their general education teachers.

Adults include school secretaries, special area teachers, custodians, lunchroom workers, academic interventionist, instructional coaches and others.
