Vestavia Hills High School Math Teams Sweep State Contest
The Alabama Statewide Mathematics Contest was held on Feb. 23, and Vestavia Hills students took home the top prizes in the competition.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - Adding more trophies to the school's case, the Vestavia Hills High School math teams took home first place in all of the categories in which they competed at the Alabama Statewide Mathematics Contest. The Algebra II, Geometry and Comprehensive Math teams all took home top honors in the Feb. 23 event.
In addition to team awards, some of the Rebels team members also took home individual titles. Walter Zhang placed first in Comprehensive, Alex Stern placed first in Algebra II, and Frank Qiang placed first in Geometry.

The last several weeks have been prosperous for Vestavia academic teams. The victory by the math team was followed by a first place finish by VHHS students in the statewide History Bee and Bowl March 9.
