Vestavia Hills High School SGA Events Raise More Than $35K

Charity events sponsored by the VHHS Student Government Association have raised more than $35,000 thus far.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Despite challenges facing students from the coronavirus pandemic during the fall semester of 2020, the Student Government Association at Vestavia Hills High School was still able to maintain an active charity campaign.

Through multiple charity events, the SGA raised more than $35,000, donated to the Amelia Center through the SGA Fund Drive, and also collected more than 25,000 cans and non-perishable goods in its November Canned Food Drive to divide between Vestavia Hills United Methodist and Love in Action.

The SGA fund drive, Homecoming King, and class competitions for the Amelia Center Fall Charity resulted in the following donations:

  • $200.00 in gift cards
  • $2777.00 worth of art supply donations
  • $500.00 Hike the Hills direct donation to the Amelia Center
  • $2600.00 in direct donations to the Amelia Center website from the Vestavia community
  • $29,000.00 from VHHS SGA for money raised through class competitions, t-shirt sales, and Homecoming King donations
