Vestavia Hills High School Students Released From Lockdown

Vestavia Hills High School was under soft lockdown after a bomb threat, as students were confined to their classrooms for more than an hour.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - A bomb threat prompted school officials to place Vestavia Hills High School on a soft lockdown Tuesday afternoon, according to a report from the Vestavia Hills City Schools.

The notice went out just after 2 p.m. Tuesday. A large police presence was reported at the high school, and sources say dogs were on hand to look for explosive devices.

After police determined no explosives were on the campus, students were allowed to leave. There is still a heavy police presence at the school while the investigation continues.
