Vestavia Hills Is The Least Robbed City In Alabama: Report
A recent study shows that robberies in Vestavia Hills occur at a lower rate than anywhere else in the state.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Vestavia Hills has long been known as a peaceful and relatively crime-free city. This is part of the reason why the city is one of the most desirable places to live in the state. Well, a recent study has confirmed that.
A study conducted by Frontpoint Security shows that Vestavia reported only 0.86 robberies per 100,000 residents. By contrast, Bessemer was Alabama's most-robbed city, with 117 robberies per 100,000 people.
The Frontpoint team used 2017 FBI Uniform Crime Reporting data to determine the city in each state with the lowest robbery rate. The researchers chose to consider only cities with a population above 30,000 for better statistical significance in the analysis.

The FBI defines robbery for its Uniform Crime Reporting statistics as the “taking or attempting to take anything of value from the care, custody, or control of a person or persons by force or threat of force or violence and/or by putting the victim in fear.”
Robbery is distinct from burglary in that burglary involves forcible entry—or breaking and entering. The Frontpoint team focused solely on robbery statistics in this report.
