Vestavia Man Dies After Catching Himself On Fire
A Vestavia Hills man has died after suffering severe burns from a fire at his home.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - A Vestavia Hills man, identified as 47-year-old Javier Silva, died Friday night when he accidentally caught himself on fire outside of his home.
According to a report by Alabama Media Group, the fire started around 10:30 p.m. March 9 at Silva's home on Seven Oaks Circle off Massey Road.
Police say Silva caught himself on fire on his patio and then went inside to the shower to try to extinguish the fire. Police and firefighters found him in his bathroom, and he was rushed to UAB hospital where he later died.

Reports from the Jefferson County Coroner said gasoline was involved and a gas can was found nearby.
