Vestavia Police Arrest Birmingham Man On Drug Charges
The Vestavia Hills Police Department arrested a Birmingham man on several drug charges after a traffic stop this week.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - Vestavia Hills Police arrested 22-year-old Justin Demterus Rice of Birmingham after a traffic stop Monday on Montgomery Highway resulted in a foot chase and the discovery of drugs and drug paraphernalia.
This stop occurred in the 1400 block of Montgomery Highway, and officers report that Rice attempted to flee on foot from the scene and resisted when officers caught up to him. The officer was injured and was later released from the hospital.
Vestavia Narcotics detectives obtained warrants from the Jefferson County DA's office on Rice for the following charges: Heroin trafficking; possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, second degree assault, carrying of a concealed weapon, attempting to elude police and resisting arrest.
