Vestavia Police Officer Arrested On Felony Charges
VHPD officer Timothy Burns was charged with theft and violation of ethics code after an internal investigation.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - A Vestavia Hills police officer has been arrested under felony warrants, the department said Friday.Detectives with the Vestavia Hills Police Department obtained warrants through the Jefferson County District Attorneyβs office on VHPD officer Timothy Burns.
The warrants are for Theft of Property 1st degree and Violation of the State of Alabama Ethics Code. Both charges stem from a recent isolated Internal Investigation. Bond on these charges total $25,000.00.
A statement by the VHPD said Burns has been relieved of his duties at the Vestavia Hills Police Department and has been placed on Administrative Leave without pay pending the outcome of the case.
