Vestavia Police Officer Retiring After 28 Years

Sgt. Lee Goodwin of the Vestavia Hills Police Department is retiring after serving in multiple capacities for the VHPD.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — A public servant in Vestavia Hills in numerous capacities is retiring. Sgt. Lee Goodwin of the Vestavia Hills Police Department will retire this week after 28 years of combined service as a law enforcement officer.

Goodwin served the Vestavia Hills community in several facets. With the VHPD since 2003, Goodwin may be most recognizable to students in the Vestavia Hills City Schools. He served for years as a Student Resource Officer, in addition to his service as an investigator and patrol officer.

"Thank you for your service to the City of Vestavia Hills, our citizens and all who have had the pleasure and honor to work with you," The VHPS said in a statement. "You have worn your badge with honor and integrity and have been a true servant to the community you have so selflessly served. We wish you and your family the very best for your future endeavors.
