Vestavia Rezoning Decision To Be Made July 10

The Vestavia Hills school board will decide on the school rezoning issue in a meeting July 10.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - The long-awaited decision regarding elementary school rezoning in Vestavia will be made July 10 at 4 p.m. at the Board of Education building.

Residents had until June 22 to look at and weigh in on the three options for consideration from the school board's rezoning consultants at Cooperative Strategies. Each option was developed from feedback provided earlier this year by focus groups of more than 65 stakeholders and community leaders.

The rezoning is part of the system's massive construction plan and purchase of Gresham Elementary School from Jefferson County last year. In December, the Vestavia Hills Board of Education adopted its comprehensive school restructuring plan that calls for the district to transition to three K-5 schools west of U.S. 280 in the fall of 2019.
