Vestavia School Board Honors Students, Staff
The Vestavia Hills Board of Education recognized accomplishments of students and staff at its meeting Monday.
VESTAVIA HILLS, AL — Students and staff from Vestavia Hills City Schools were recognized by the Vestavia Hills Board of Education this week for recent accomplishments.
National Merit Semifinalists at VHHS were recognized, as 13 students from te school were given the honor in September:

The Alabama School Counselor Association and Alabama State Department of Education honored the Vestavia Hills High School Counseling Department in September as a 2020 Alabama School Counseling Program of Distinction. The recognition was based on the counselors’ work to align VHHS counseling services with the Comprehensive Counseling and Guidance Model for Alabama Public Schools and the American School Counseling Association National Model.

Vestavia Hills High School math teacher Susan Gifford was named one of the winners of the 2020 Edyth May Sliffe Award in September. The award, given annually by the Mathematical Association of America, recognizes distinguished math teachers in middle and high school for their commitment to encourage students to experience math through interesting and engaging activities.
