A recent study ranked the safest school systems in each state, and Vestavia Hills ranked among the top 5.

VESTAVIA HILLS, AL - A recent study listing the safest school systems in the country has Vestavia Hills City Schools in the top 5 in Alabama.
In recent years, the issue of school safety has become a top priority for school systems nationwide. Schools have resorted to using metal detectors, police officers and increased security to combat the threat of school violence over the years.

Data resource site Niche.com compiled lists of the safest school systems in each state, and Hoover's system topped Alabama's list.
Niche compiled the list based on rigorous analysis of data from the U.S. Department of Education along with millions of reviews from students and parents. The study looked at surveys from parents and students, data on number of school suspensions and expulsions, school-related arrests, police incidents and expenses per student by each system.
