Here are the top 3 stories today in Anchorage:

  1. According to reports, around 210,000 ballots have been mailed out for Anchorage's April election. During this election, voters will decide on five Assembly seats and two school board seats, each with several candidates. A full list of candidates and a full list of ballot propositions are available on the city's election website. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. Currently, Big Lake Elementary School is in stay-put mode due to a body being found outside near the school premises. There is limited information available; however, Alaska State Troopers' Communications Director Austin McDaniel claimed that "there is no danger to students or staff." The duration of the school's stay-put mode is still unclear. This is a developing story. (Anchorage Daily News)
  3. Last November, an ordinance was passed by the Anchorage Assembly to prevent Mayor Dave Bronson's appointees from serving for long periods of time without being confirmed by the Assembly. Currently, people in the Assembly have prepared a resolution to delay the confirmation of Uluao "Junior" Aumavae for the chief equity officer role. Yesterday, a meeting took place to discuss the resolution. For full details about the meeting and decisions made, please read the full article. (Must Read Alaska)
