Here are the top three stories in Anchorage today:

  1. The Anchorage Assembly has confirmed Mayor Dave Bronson's pick for chief equity officer. Mayor Bronson's appointment of Uluao "Junior" Aumavae was met with unanimous support from the Anchorage Assembly Tuesday night in a 10-0 vote. "The Assembly and I have had our differences regarding the chief equity officer position, but the ongoing legal matters between us have absolutely no bearing on Junior's employment with the muni, his current position as chief equity officer, and his ability to be confirmed here tonight," Bronson said. (Anchorage Daily News)
  2. Gender-neutral restrooms will be opening soon in Anchorage elementary schools. Following spring break, there will be private restrooms in schools such as Lake Otis Elementary for students who don't want to use the female or male designated restrooms. Alpenglow in Eagle River and Chugiak Elementary in Chugiak will also be gaining these new restrooms. (Must Read Alaska)
  3. FedEx is growing its investments in Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport to $200M. This is the latest public commitment amid many formal agreements and rumored developments for the growing cargo business at the airport. By this fall, FedEx expects to upgrade its main ram and 12 aircraft gates in response to increased activity through Anchorage, according to officials. (Alaskajournal.com)
