At 10 a.m. Nov. 23, the Office of Emergency Management will conduct a test of the
emergency alert capability that sends a pop-up message to your work station computer.
The alert can easily be acknowledged and dismissed with a key stroke. This feature
of our alerting options did not work well when used last month during the earthquake
drill, and software updates since then have reportedly fixed the issue. If you leave
your computer On at all times, please turn it off sometime before the drill and restart
it to ensure the software update is loaded properly. The update is an automated process.

No other alerting modes will be used during this drill. UAA machines being used off
campus will not receive the message, since this program is narrowed in scope geographically
to the Anchorage campus.

What you can do: if you are working on campus and using a UAA computer, watch for
the test alert at 10 a.m. Tuesday. If you do NOT see the test message, please tell
us by email to emergencymanager@alaska.edu. No action is needed if you do receive the test message. Thank you for helping in
our continuous improvement of emergency alerting capabilities.
