• Environmental groups ask judge to pause Alaska's bear cull program scheduled for this month (adn.com) — State wildlife managers have been killing bears in remote country between Dillingham and Bethel to boost the struggling Mulchatna caribou herd, and two environmental groups are now asking a judge to halt this year’s cull. At a Friday Anchorage hearing, lawyers debated whether the Board of Game relied on adequate bear population data, with a ruling expected soon and aerial gunning possibly starting in mid-May.
