• Ice jam flooding leads to disaster declaration for 2 Interior Alaska villages (adn.com) — Flooding from ice jams has prompted a state disaster declaration covering Yukon Flats communities, including Chalkyitsik just 50 miles east of Fort Yukon, after rapidly rising water damaged several homes. While major breakup flooding fears eased elsewhere, Interior and Western Alaska villages like Hughes and Kalskag are still coping with high water, evacuations, and limited air access as state and tribal agencies coordinate relief.
