Juneau Assembly puts decision on cruise ship limits on hold (juneauempire.com) — Juneau's Assembly has delayed turning its five-cruise-ships-per-day limit into law, keeping the cap in place through voluntary agreements while a new Visitor Industry Task Force gathers more data. Local officials say the study will help measure whether infrastructure projects like the Seawalk and dock upgrades truly ease tourism pressures across the City and Borough of Juneau. 
2. 'My life is never going to be complete anymore': Family, friends mourn Juneau teen deaths (ktoo.org) — Juneau residents gathered at Dzantik'i Heeni's outdoor court Tuesday night to mourn two 16-year-olds found dead nearby after being reported missing Monday. Family and friends shared memories, questioned what happened, and urged parents to hold their kids close as police continue investigating and autopsies proceed in Anchorage. Crisis hotlines were also highlighted for anyone struggling.
3. Juneau schools and organizations increase mental health support following death of teenagers (ktoo.org) — In response to the recent deaths of two teenagers, Juneau schools and tribal partners are expanding on-site crisis counseling, quiet spaces, and teen health center support for local students. Community groups like JAMHI, Tlingit & Haida, and NAMI Juneau are also offering free walk-in counseling, support groups, healing events, and easy-to-navigate mental health resources for residents of all ages.
4. A Himalayan glacier collapse killed hundreds. One in Alaska could look different. (ktoo.org) — Research based in Juneau explains how a deadly Himalayan glacier collapse compares to risks from the Juneau Icefield and nearby valleys. Scientists say a similar glacier disaster is unlikely here, but warn that climate change and glacier retreat are increasing landslide dangers around Juneau and Southeast Alaska, urging residents to stay aware of evolving local hazards.
5. Three tribally owned firms land $400M Air Force Pacific advisory deal (washingtontechnology.com) — A Juneau-based arm of the Tlingit Haida Tribal Business Corporation is part of a team of three tribally owned firms sharing a $400 million Air Force advisory contract. Over the next five years, they'll compete for engineering and management work across Pacific bases, potentially bringing more revenue, jobs, and federal contracting experience back to Juneau and Southeast Alaska.
