• What's next for Mat-Su's three shuttered school buildings (matsusentinel.com) — Mat-Su school officials have finalized plans for three recently closed school buildings, including busing some Glacier View students more than 40 miles into Palmer next year. Larson Elementary will house Birch Tree Charter, Glacier View becomes a borough-run community center, and Meadow Lakes may host charter, homeschool, or career-tech programs depending on upcoming funding decisions. 
• Nick Offerman announced as final act in Alaska State Fair Concert Series (alaskasnewssource.com) — Nick Offerman is headed to Palmer’s Alaska State Fair, closing out the 2026 ConocoPhillips Alaska Concert Series with a comedy and music show at the Borealis Theatre on Sept. 6. Tickets, which can include Fair admission if bought by Aug. 20, go on sale to the public at 10 a.m. Friday. He joins a lineup featuring Megadeth, Ziggy Marley, and The Beach Boys.
