• Alaska lawmakers pass bill making gold and silver currencies legal tender (adn.com) — Tok residents are represented in a new statewide push to recognize gold and silver currencies as legal tender and exempt them from local sales tax. The bill, co-sponsored by Tok Republican Sen. Mike Cronk, would bar municipalities from taxing gold and silver specie itself, though normal sales taxes would still apply to whatever is purchased. It now awaits Gov. Mike Dunleavy’s decision.
