• ‘I can't believe I shot my best friend': Grand jury declines to indict Wasilla teen in fatal shooting (ktuu.com) — A Wasilla teenager will not face felony charges after a grand jury declined to indict him in the fatal shooting of his 21-year-old friend during a birthday gathering at their Wasilla residence. Police say the two were practicing self-defense with a handgun they failed to fully clear, and this marks the department’s first non–officer-involved firearm homicide case since before 2020.
   

• Senate Passes Consumer Bill of Rights to Protect Alaskans from Crypto ATM Scams (mustreadalaska.com) — Alaskans, including Wasilla residents, may soon see stronger protections from cryptocurrency ATM scams after the State Senate passed a Consumer Bill of Rights for virtual currency kiosks. The bill, inspired in part by Sen. Cathy Tilton of Wasilla after her mother was scammed, would require clear fraud warnings, licensing, transaction limits, and better tools for law enforcement and refunds.
