Hey, Arizona! Tesla Cars Are Now For Sale In The State

The electric car manufacturer has been battling the state for five years for permission to sell directly to customers.

After five years of battling the state, electric car manufacturer has won permission to sell its cars directly to customers in Arizona. Those willing to pay need just head to the Tesla store in Scottsdale Fashion Square.

The manufacturer has been trying to just that since 2012.

At the time the Arizona Department of Transportation and stopped them, saying state law prevents manufacturers from selling directly to consumers.

Tesla challenged the ruling, arguing that since they don't have dealers, the law - which was intended to restrict competition - didn't apply to them. (Subscribe to local news alerts on Patch).

An administrative judge last year backed the manufacturer.

The Arizona Automobile Dealers Association sued to try to stop the license from being granted but a judge threw out the case.

So, you can head to Scottsdale to buy a Tesla. While the company also a store in Tempe, cars - for now - are not available there.
