Woman Stashes $170K In Suitcase, Forgets It At Arizona Walmart

An Arizona woman forgot a suitcase stuffed with $170,000 on the bottom of her shopping cart. When she returned, it was gone.

KINGMAN, AZ — A Phoenix area woman left a suitcase stuffed with $170,000 on the bottom carrier of her cart after shopping at a Kingman Walmart this week, then drove home and discovered she had forgotten it. The cash was from a business and home sale, the Valley Vista woman told police.

The woman returned the cart to the front of the store on the morning of June 6 after she had loaded her purchases in her vehicle. When she realized she had left the suitcase behind, she returned to the store and didn’t find it, then notified authorities, Kingman police said in a news release.

Store officials confirmed to police that the woman had forgotten the suitcase, which was about the size of a piece of carry-on luggage. Police have identified a “person of interest” in the case, a young man carrying a skateboard who is shown on video surveillance recordings picking up the suitcase and walking out of the store with it.
