📰 News we're reading
1. 10-01-2026 Public Notices (thebisbeeobserver.com) — A long slate of official notices directly affects Bisbee residents, including multiple trustee sales at the Cochise County Courthouse in Bisbee, probate hearings, and civil summonses that may involve local property or estates. Two new city ordinances also approve the transfer of properties at 105 N Taylor Avenue and 108 D Street to the City of Bisbee for future community development, potentially shaping neighborhood uses and public projects.
2. 29 Awesome Places to Retire (cheapism.com) — Bisbee is spotlighted as a standout retirement choice in this national list, celebrated for its tiny-town feel, strong arts scene, quirky bars and restaurants, and surrounding hiking trails. The piece emphasizes Bisbee's sense of community and contrast with gated Arizona developments, while also profiling other under-the-radar retirement towns across the country for comparison.
3. Decades Old Sexual Assault Case End With Dismissal Of Charges (thebisbeeobserver.com) — Cochise County Attorney Lori Zucco has dropped kidnapping and sexual assault charges against retired Border Patrol agent John Daly stemming from a 2001 attack on a woman in Bisbee, with the court dismissing the case with prejudice. Zucco said a detailed review exposed weaknesses in how the case was charged and handled, leading her to conclude that ending the prosecution was the most responsible option.
4. These Arizona cities were named top places to live in 2026 (coppercourier.com) — Bisbee gets a special shout-out as Arizona's most welcoming town, praised for its tight-knit community, restored historic core, and walkable Old Bisbee streets filled with galleries, restaurants, and shops. The broader roundup compares cities statewide on affordability, growth, and quality of life, but Bisbee stands out for charm and community spirit rather than big-city amenities.
