• City moves forward with Skyline Regional Park expansion plan (inbuckeye.com) — Buckeye is moving ahead with a no-cost federal lease to add 640 acres to Skyline Regional Park, ultimately growing it to more than 9,300 acres. The long-term plan calls for new access roads, parking, restrooms, ADA-accessible trails, and even a bike skills course connecting to Verrado, though construction isn’t expected until around 2030–2031.

• Thirty Lewis Prison inmates sue Arizona Department of Corrections over pepper ball, chemical agent incident (abc15.com) — Thirty inmates are suing over a 2025 use-of-force incident at Lewis Prison in Buckeye, alleging excessive pepper balls and chemical agents and long-lasting injuries. The suit, filed in Maricopa County Superior Court, also notes one officer was treated at Abrazo Buckeye Hospital and claims the state failed to properly train and supervise staff.
