• Chandler arts center to reopen in October after $3M renovation (azfamily.com) — Chandler Center for the Arts is reopening October 17 after a $3 million renovation funded by the city and Chandler Unified School District, bringing upgraded seating, finishes, and safety systems. Residents can attend the Center Stage Gala, a free October 24 open house, and big-name performances later in the month to experience the refreshed venue.
• Chandler uses tree inventory data to plan replacements after monsoon season losses (abc15.com) — Chandler lost more than 200 park and streetscape trees in this year's monsoon storms, and the city is now using detailed tree inventory data to guide smarter replacements. Officials say proactive pruning protected many trees, and residents can help rebuild neighborhood shade by picking up free trees during a November Arbor Day giveaway.
• Gilbert Police detail use of license plate readers (eastvalleytribune.com) — Gilbert police leaders are defending their growing use of license plate reader cameras, crediting the technology with catching a homicide suspect and even helping save a missing man's life. While Chandler, Tempe and Apache Junction have canceled contracts with vendor Flock Safety over privacy concerns, Gilbert is expanding its network, tightening audits, and waiting to see if Arizona lawmakers impose tougher statewide misuse penalties.
