Residents can attend the Center Stage Gala, a free October 24 open house, and big-name performances later in the month to experience the refreshed venue.

• Gilbert Police detail use of license plate readers (eastvalleytribune.com) — Gilbert police leaders are defending their growing use of license plate reader cameras, crediting the technology with catching a homicide suspect and even helping save a missing man's life. While Chandler, Tempe and Apache Junction have canceled contracts with vendor Flock Safety over privacy concerns, Gilbert is expanding its network, tightening audits, and waiting to see if Arizona lawmakers impose tougher statewide misuse penalties.
