Dental Care Guidelines from the Veterinarians at Chewy Vet Care:
- A complete dental cleaning by age 1 for small- to medium-breed dogs
- A complete dental cleaning by age 2 for larger-breed dogs
- Annual cleanings thereafter
- For cats, professional cleanings every 1–2 years, unless special health considerations apply

While dental care formulas differ for dogs and cats, the recommendations are similar:
- Brush your pet’s teeth regularly
- Use food and drinking-water additives
- Schedule professional cleanings annually
- Offer dental chews and toys
- Try dental wipes
