📰 News we're reading
• Heaven sent: Dry wells in rural Arizona force residents to rely on water haulers (azpbs.org) — Residents in Chino Valley are increasingly relying on water haulers as rural wells run dry, with some neighborhoods now unable to deepen wells enough to reach water. Local officials and advocates are pushing regional cooperation and stormwater capture to stabilize the town's aquifer, while families juggle higher hauling costs, health challenges, and uncertainty about whether future leaders will prioritize Chino Valley's shrinking water supply.
• OneAZ launches statewide food drive throughout October to combat food insecurity across Arizona (cuinsight.com) — Chino Valley residents can support their own Chino Valley Food Bank this month through OneAZ Credit Union's statewide Stock the Shelves Food Drive, running October 1–31. Donors are asked to drop canned tuna, canned chicken, or peanut butter at any OneAZ branch, with contributions helping local families facing food insecurity and strengthening community resources across Arizona.
