The incident, during a First Alert Weather Day with temperatures near 116, could have been deadly but ended with all cattle expected to recover.

His daughter Yesenia and son-in-law Jack Dudley live in Eloy, and he is remembered as a devoted father, animal lover, and member of St. Helen Catholic Church, with services set for July 27 in Portales.
