• Nonverbal students in Gilbert classroom become ABC15's newest Kidcasters (abc15.com) — Students in a special education classroom at Patterson Elementary in Gilbert just became ABC15's newest Kidcasters, using their unique "total communication" style to talk about the daily weather. The visit from meteorologist Jorge Torres highlighted how these mostly nonverbal fifth- and sixth-graders express big personalities and model inclusive, respectful communication for the wider Gilbert community.
   

• Woman accused of stealing from Gilbert High orchestra booster club (azcentral.com) — Gilbert residents may want to know that the former treasurer of the Gilbert High School orchestra booster club is accused of misusing more than $5,000 in booster funds, including cash withdrawals and personal purchases. Police say discrepancies surfaced after an internal audit, and the woman faces a felony theft charge with an initial court appearance set for Oct. 30.
