• Woman stabbed to death outside Glendale corner market (azfamily.com) — A woman was fatally stabbed outside the Easy Stop Corner market near 60th Avenue and Bethany Home Road in Glendale just after midnight Saturday, and police are still working to identify a suspect. Glendale officers say she died after being taken to a nearby hospital, and they’re asking anyone with information to contact the department or Silent Witness.
   

• Suspect Agreed to DNA Test, Killed Himself 5 Days Later (newser.com) — Glendale readers now have closure in a decades-old local mystery: Arizona officials say DNA evidence has linked a man who recently died by suicide to the 1987 killing of Navy veteran Orison “Jim” Chafin, whose body was found in a Glendale cemetery. Investigators say the suspect once lived in Glendale, left a note supporting their conclusions, and that Glendale police now consider the case closed.
