Man Killed In West Phoenix Semi-Truck Crash Identified By Police

Phoenix police have identified the man killed in a West Phoenix crash involving two semi-trucks.

PHOENIX, AZ — Phoenix police have identified the man killed Saturday in a crash involving two semi-trucks near 72nd Avenue and Buckeye Road as Marshall Craig Davis, 68.

The crash happened around 10:42 a.m. July 5 near 7200 West Buckeye Road. Officers arrived to find Davis unresponsive inside his vehicle.

Phoenix firefighters freed him from the wreckage, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials said.

Preliminary information indicates Davis drifted into the eastbound lanes and struck one of the semi-trucks head-on. The impact forced the second semi off the road. Both truck drivers remained at the scene and were not injured.

Buckeye Road remained closed in both directions for several hours Sunday as investigators worked to determine what caused Davis to drift. Drivers were asked to avoid the area and use alternate routes.

The Vehicular Crimes Unit is handling the investigation, which is ongoing.

Police have not said when the road is expected to reopen or released additional details about what led up to the crash.
