John McCain "Still Calling The Shots," Says Fellow Senator

While Senator McCain remains in Phoenix, he is still running the show at the Senate Armed Services Committee, according to a colleague.

PHOENIX, AZ – Don't be fooled. Sen. John McCain may not be in Washington, DC, but he is still very much running the show at the Senate Armed Services Committee.

McCain's number two on the committee, Sen. James Inhofe (R-OK) taped an interview for C-SPAN's "Newsmakers" show airing Sunday in which he says that McCain is still "calling the shots."

McCain has been at home in Phoenix since December recovering from treatment from brain cancer.

"Yes, I'm chairing the meetings, but we're chairing the meetings consistent with what John feels we should be doing," Inhofe tells C-SPAN. "In fact, actually deciding on what hearings we're having, that's a decision that's coming out of the chairman, which is John McCain.

"He's calling the shots and I'm showing up.”
