Here are the top three stories in Phoenix today:

  1. Early on Sunday morning, one officer was shot and another injured in north Phoenix and police are still searching for the suspect. The two officers were injured in an ambush-style shooting while attempting to make a traffic stop. Both officers are in the hospital and are expected to recover. Police urge anyone with information about the incident to call Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS. (Phoenix Patch)
  2. The Phoenix Public Market Cafe used to be a popular meeting spot in Downtown Phoenix before it closed in March of 2020. The building has remained empty ever since and is now in danger of being demolished. Now, Phoenix residents are rallying to save the building. The City of Phoenix has confirmed that the developer has not yet paid the city for the demolition permit. (Arizona's Family)
  3. According to Phoenix police, an early morning police shooting on Saturday left a 39-year-old man dead. Adam Vespoli was suspected of getting into the driver's seat of a Phoenix Police Department patrol car and started to drive away. An officer shot Vespoli and was taken to a local hospital where he died from his injuries when an officer shot him (Phoenix Patch)
